The Republic of Armenia is situated in West Asia bordered by Azerbaijan, Georgia, Iran and Turkey with a population of some 3 million people and a capital at Yerevan.

Armenia became a part of the Soviet Union in 1922 and only became independent in 1990.

Armenia's economy stagnated under the Soviet Unions central planned economy but since independence the agricultural sector has grown and the high technology sector is growing.
