Road sign with the words Antioch written in white on a green background set against the sky.

Antioch is one of the oldest towns in the state of California founded in 1850 in Contra Costa County in the East Bay area of San Francisco Bay with a population of 110,000 people.

Antioch was originally named Smiths Landing but a year after it was founded the name was changed to Antioch.

Most Antioch residents work in the nearby larger cities including San Francisco and Oakland.
