The Argentine Republic is situated in the south east of South America with a population of some 41 million people and a capital city at Buenos Aires. Argentina is bordered by Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay with a coastline to the Atlantic Ocean.

Argentina became a Spanish colony in 1512 and gained independence in 1816.

Political instability over the years has harmed Argentina's economy but the country benefits from a wealth of natural resources and a large agriculural sector.
