The Republic of Burundi is situated in soth east Africa with a population of some 8.75 million people and a capital city at Bujumbura it is bordered by the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda and Tanzania.

Burundi was a Belgian colony until 1962 when it became independent and changed it's name from Ruanda-Urundi to Burundi.

Burundi's main export is coffee but being one of the poorest countries in the world most of the population survives by subsistence agriculture.
