The Republic of Fiji is situated in the south Pacific Ocean 1,300 miles north east of New Zealand and is made up of over 300 islands with a population of some 850,000 people living mainly on the islands of Viti Levu and Vanua Levu with it's capital at Suva.

Fiji was a British colony until 1970 when the islands became an independent country.

Fiji is naturally rich in minerals, forest and fish with tourism and sugar providing a good supply of foreign exchange.
