The Kyrgyz Republic is situated in central Asia with a population of some 5.75 million people and a capital city at Bishkek. Kyrgyzstan is bordered by China, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

Kyrgyzstan was part of the Soviet Union and declared independence in 1991 after the fall of the Soviet Union.

Kyrgyzstan is the second poorest country in central Asia and remittances from expatriates form a large part of the countries revenue. Kyrgyzstan is rich in minerals and gold is one of the countries main exports.
